British Columbia has a network of approximately 530 return collection facilities that accept used oil, oil filters and oil containers from the do-it-yourselfer, and a slightly lesser number that accept used antifreeze and antifreeze containers. To find a drop-off location, use the associated search to the right. Search results will include a legend to indicate accepted materials by location.
Follow these steps to ensure that you’re responsibly recycling your used oil and antifreeze materials:
1. Call the return collection facility nearest you to confirm materials and amounts accepted, drop-off location and hours of operation.
2. Return used oil and used antifreeze materials ONLY during business operating hours as night drop offs often lead to spills and environmental contamination.
3. Return used oil and used antifreeze in plastic oil and antifreeze containers with secure lids to minimize spillage.
4. Ensure that the used oil and antifreeze has not been contaminated with any other waste, otherwise, it will not be accepted.
