Safe drinking water, in most of Canada, is taken for granted. But awareness of water’s importance still needs to be promoted in our schools. Both the Saskatchewan and Alberta associations supported this need with donations to the Safe Drinking Water Foundation www.sdwf.org) over the past 18 months.
The total donation dollar value of $24,835 permitted the purchase and distribution of water testing kits to 72 Saskatchewan and 43 Alberta elementary and high schools. As a result thousands of students are learning about drinking water quality issues and solutions in a hands-on manner and then being encouraged to share what they learned with others to alleviate drinking water quality issues.
