OEM stakeholders:
In 2013, the Used Oil Management Associations (UOMAs) began collecting Environmental Handling Charges (EHCs) on oil, antifreeze and filters contained in original equipment (OEM). As part of our efforts to continually improve, the Associations are undertaking a review of the Initial Fill (OEM) Category Summary.
The primary goals of this review are to improve the Associations’ collective administrative efficiency, ease stewards’ interpretation of the OEM Category Summary, and improve EHC compliance. The Associations aim to do this by clarifying the category classifications for some of the more difficult to classify on- and off-road vehicles and equipment, combine reporting categories where it makes sense; and avoid adding OEM levies to vehicles or equipment that would increase administrative burden disproportionally to the funds collected.
The consultation document (in French and English) is being emailed to OEM-remitting UOMA members and was also posted here on the UOMAs’ national website on March 15, 2017. Following receipt of the consultation document, stakeholders are invited to respond on or before May 15, 2017. OEM-remitting UOMA members will receive the updated 2018 Initial Fill (OEM) Category Summary in September 2017 for implementation on January 1, 2018.
